Adulting 101 for Teens
June 8, 2021 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Adulting 101 is a weekly program series that is focused on teaching teens life skills, and “adulting” skills that they may not learn at school or at home. Some examples are sewing a tear in your clothing, basic car maintenance, budgeting and finances, registering to vote, stress management and more!
Week 1: June 1, 4-6. Program title: Stress Management. Description: Life is stressful, especially with the past year we’ve had. This program is designed to give teens the tools they need to get some of their stress out through movement and mindfulness.
Week 2: June 8, 4-6. Program title: Fix Your Clothes! Description: Did your favorite shirt get a hole in it, or have a button fall off? Learn how to sew a button back on, or fix minor tears in your favorite outfits!
Week 3: June 15, 4-6. Program title: Healthy Eating on a Budget. Description: Learning how to eat healthy in an affordable way is an important skill to foster. This program will teach teens how to grocery shop effectively and prepare nutritional and healthy meals at home that fit within their budget.
Week 4: June 22, 4-6. Program title: Voting How-To’s! Description: When you turn 18, there can be a lot of pressure to register to vote, but not everyone is shown how to do it, or prepared for what the process of voting is actually like. It can be rather intimidating. This program will show you the steps for registering to vote, how to find your voting location, and make you more confident when it comes time to walk in and vote yourself!
Week 5: June 29, 4-6. Program title: Resumes, Job Applications, and Interviews! Description: This program will teach teens how to create a strong resume, fill out job applications, and what to expect during an interview. We will include tips on how to dress, and what questions to prepare for.
