Little Known Facts of the American Civil War
June 21 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Join us for a presentation on Little-Known Facts of the American Civil War with author Bob O’Connor.
June 21, 2024
3 pm – 4 pm
1st Floor Conference Room
Bob O’Connor is an author, researcher, and historian who has presented over 1,000 times since 2006 and a regular at the Danville Library. He has written over thirty books, non-fiction, and fiction, mostly about the American Civil War. He has been named a finalist in the national book competition four times. He lives in Charles Town, WV.
Persons who realize that truth is stranger than fiction will love this presentation as even the most avid Civil War enthusiast will learn something new. For instance, did you know that Robert E. Lee was not a citizen of the United States when he died; or that “Stonewall” Jackson’s arm is buried over 100 miles from the grave of the rest of his body; or that camels were used as beasts of burden by both the Confederates and the Union; or that the last state to ratify the 13th Amendment to make slavery illegal did not pass their approval until 2013!!!
The Library is committed to making programs accessible to all. To request an accommodation, contact the Director of Community Relations via email at bkuchefski@danvillepubliclibrary.org or via phone at 217-477-5220 ext. 111.
