The Hardy Boys and their father have to stop a man and machine from destroying the Alaskan oil pipeline. They find out that the criminals are down the road from their friend’s house in the city of Bayport. What will the Hardy boys find when they investigate the house.

Book Review: Niagara Falls, Or Does It? by Henry Winkler and Lin Oliver (Hank Zipzer #1) — Beanstack Review

Book Review: The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum — Beanstack Review

The book is very different from the movie. The clever writing leads an adult reader to realize early on that the scarecrow has a brain, the lion is courageous, and the tin-man has a heart from the first introduction to the reader. The lion jumps over a gulf with everyone on their back which the scarecrow volunteers to go first with the reason that he won’t get hurt if he gets dropped in the river below. The tin-man protects a field mouse because he has a caring heart. I enjoyed reading this book as I didn’t read it as a child.

Book Review: The Dark is Rising by Susan Cooper — Beanstack Review

It’s the evening before Will’s eleventh birthday, and things are starting to get crazy. His beloved dogs don’t like him, the electronics malfunction when he’s near, and people he’s known all of his life are acting strangely. This book is part of the Dark is Rising series, and Will soon finds out that he’s an integral part of the final battle – between Dark and Light – for control of the world. I devoured this series in middle school and it’s just as captivating now.
